Our MissionThe mission of EVMCHS is to foster socially, ethically, and academically prepared students who thrive in a college environment. Dual enrollment programming through our partnership with San Diego City College and the availability of academic supports allow EVMCHS students to take core and elective college courses in pursuit of weighted academic credits. Students apply these credits toward career certifications, associates degrees, and/or four-year university admissions.

What is a Middle College High School?California Education Code(EC), Section 11300 declares that Middle College High Schools (MCHS) have proven to be a highly effective collaborative effort between local school districts and community colleges.
MCHS are secondary schools located on a college campus. These schools offer challenging academic programs designed to serve high-potential, high-risk students. MCHS feature effective support services, small class size, and the opportunity for students to concurrently take some college classes at typically minor cost to the student. |

AVID!AVID was developed by SDUSD teachers determined to help underserved students succeed academically and successfully transition into college. EVMCHS offers the program as an academic course of study in conjunction with English classes in 9th, 10th and 12th grades. It is also provided as an optional college support course in 11th grade when EVMCHS students generally begin to take on a full dual enrollment schedule. Our fully trained AVID staff apply the philosophy of holding students accountable to the highest standards, while providing the academic and social support necessary for success. |
